A small audience member in the 2024 ATD international conference in New Orleans, where your father's words of wisdom mixed with laughter calmed the storm of 10,000 people. He gave us the gift of hope, unity, inspiration and true resilience, which I am sure you will inherit.

Helena, your parents came to Nebraska about 50 weeks ago-obviously smitten. Auntie Carolyn and I saw this great love unfold right before our eyes out at Lake Mac. Your parents and you have brought together two great families across 2 continents-quite a deal. I caught your mom at sunset a beach in a series of photos last summer that resonate her energetic spirit. I saw in your father’s eyes at that moment that they were destined to be together. Their love is a quantum entanglement of genes and experiences that has beough you into the world at just the right time. Your father Robert’s 43rd birthday is today, serendipitously the same age of his father - your grand father Ed - who Nubia lovingly calls daily. Over these last 40 weeks both your families have been praying and waiting to see you! You have 2 extremely talented and loving parents. Your cousins, many extended second cousins, aunties and uncles in America will always be here for you on your journey from “Puff” to HXF. Your soul bonding birth has already changed many lives but especially that of your father-you will have more baby pictures than most on two continents, you are already generating smiles in numerous jursidictions! I have never seen my brother so happy until you came along sweet pea. Your mother is a saint as well - auntie Carolyn will tell you all about it on the beach in Nebraska one day. Praise God you are here, healthy with 2 great souls to raise you!.

Robert is an artist, but his greatest creation may be the way he brings people together. Years ago, Robert and I hosted a gathering at his home in the French Quarter. We wanted to create a quintessential New Orleans experience for some of our guests at conference called f.ounders. Our love for New Orleans led us to the balcony at his apartment in the French Quarter. A gathering in the FQ in NOLA needs music in the air -- and your dad organized a band called the Revivalists to play that evening. The next day at Jazz Fest they were the headliner on the Gentilly stage, and people could not believe what they experienced the night before, thanks to Robert. That is what your dad has always known how to do. Through Dear World, his photographs, and even his spontaneous travels around the world, he helps people let down their guard, tell the truth, and really see one another.

Late one evening in New Orleans, we enjoyed music together before exploring an old historic building that was being fixed to make new memories on top of the old. As we walked around the building, on the second and third floors with open brick and no glass in the window holes, Robert and Nubia smiled and laughed effortlessly with each other, sharing their love. It was a beautiful moment.

I want Helena to know her daddy is incredibly talented, carrying for humans who is driving by captivating stories. One story that is always repeats it self every time your daddy hears a story from people that he works with. Each an every time his eyes lights up with curiosity and wanting to know more.
